Brain Machine Interface project or BMI on its Way

In Tokyo, Japan, on March 31, 2009, Honda developed new technology that could let you control machines only by thinking and Honda hopes to be able to use this technology to make life easier for many humans.

The way this happens is that they first get a person to move some of their body parts and at the same time they measure their brain waves. This data serves as a training set and different movements generate different brain waves.

Then, they ask the person just to think about the movement (without executing it) and it turns out the the brain generates similar waves. In this way, one can control a computer mouse or robot just by planning (but not executing) different movements.

To demonstrate their technology, Honda engineers had a human control the Asimo Robot by thought (see picture above).

This technology can have many applications: from helping paralyzed patients move a wheelchair to having robots perform ordinary household tasks for you.

On 9/9/09, the new iPod Nano was released to the public through Apple.com and Apple Stores by Apple Inc® with several new features.

One of the newest features of the iPod Nano is its bigger screen which is 2.2 inches - larger than the last iPod Nano. Another of the new features is a camera that can record and take pictures. Many people think that the camera is its best new feature. Another new feature is its FM radio that can tag with the touch of one button. You can even rewind 15 minutes and fast forward to hear the live broadcast.

There is also another new feature that iTunes® users might already use and love. It is called Genius®. It can mix songs automatically even when you are not using it, and with a touch of some buttons you can mix your favorite songs with other songs that go with it.

The next new feature is VoiceOver®. What VoiceOver® does with the touch of a button or pressing the controls on the optional Apple® earphones is telling you the person who sings the music and who composed it without interrupting your music. You may be impressed at how smart it is.

Last but not least, there is the Nike + iPod Sport kit and a built in pedometer. Your iPod nano can use its accelerometer to keep track of your steps so you can keep fit easily without all the planning.
