Race Away – UCLA Lab School Cub Scout Annual Pinewood Derby
By Nicholas
Each year, the Cub Scouts of America make different projects, the most exciting one being the Pinewood Derby. Derbys are race cars made out of a block of pinewood, with wheels on nails, decorated by each scout.
This year’s Pinewood Derby will be held at 3:00pm-6:00pm on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at UCLA Lab School.
UCLA Lab School scouts will race to win different categories such as “The Fastest”, “The Most Colorful”, and the “Most Creative” among others.
During the past months, the Cub Scouts have already designed, carved (according to their cool designs), sanded, and painted the Derby cars. Now, they are busy putting on the wheels and the finishing touches, getting ready for the big race on Saturday. Go Scouts!
